The Difference Between DDR3 & DDR4 Memory |
In Computing, memory refers to the computer hardware integrated circuits that store information for immediate use in a computer; it is synonymous with the term “primary storage”. Wikipedia
RAM – Random Access Memory is a device for storing data randomly, the data stored in the CPU/Central Processing Unit is only temporary.
EX: it only stored data when the computer is ON and the data will be lost if the computer is turned off.
DDR – Double Rate Memory is the type of RAM that’s using for computer/laptops, The DDR type RAM has two lines for data traffic to or from the processor.
Actually, there is an initial generation of this RAM type and will continue to be upgraded, starting from the first generation, DDR2, DDR3, DDR4, and even DDR5 SDRAM (Synchronous Dynamic Random-Access Memory)
Suggestion:
But this time, I will show you the difference between DDR3 and DDR4 Memory, DDR3 vs DDR4.
DDR3 RAM |
DDR3 started to be used since 2007, DDR3 also lasted a little longer, between 4-6 years before DDR4 was launched in 2014.
The difference between DDR 3 and DDR4 in the physical form is the location of the pins at the bottom of the module’s memory PCB so that making each generation of DDR memory cannot be plugged in memory slots that’s has different types.
